Pantone has announced the 2020 color of the year! This Classic Blue is a shade which can be both restrained and regal or edgy depending on the applications. The selection of a classic color is a vast contrast from last year’s Living Coral which was a fresh and vibrant hue selected to energize and enlighten.
Why Classic Blue?
Executive Director of the Pantone Color Institute, Leatrise Eiseman, explained that, “We are living in a time that require trust and faith. It is this kind of constancy that is expressed by PANTONE 19-4052 Classic Blue.” She continues to explain that, “Classic blue encourages us to look beyond the obvious to expand our thinking; challenging us to think more deeply, increase our perspective and open the flow of communication.”
The Selection Process.
Pantone has announced a color of the year for more than two decades. Selecting the Color of the Year requires thoughtful consideration and analysis of trends. A team of color experts at the Pantone Color Institute find inspiration all over the world. From the entertainment industry to popular travel destinations, technology and even socio-economic conditions.
An article written by TIME magazine speaks to the trend beautifully;
“Indeed, the color seems especially fitting for this moment in time; the hue is both genderless and seasonless, making it both accessible and desirable, for people in all walks of life.”
TIME continues to point out that this particular shade can be achieved naturally from plants and dyes. This element makes the selection right on trend with the sustainability movement.
At Seattle Staged to Sell we have always admired blue and the calming atmosphere that it can create. We love to use color when appropriate in designing and staging homes. Follow us on Houzz to stay up to date on current projects and see how we continue to use the color of the year in 2020.
