At the beginning of February, we had the pleasure of staging this hip Wedgwood Midcentury home. The sellers had recently renovated it and we wanted to target young couples buying their first family home. We staged in an affordable style that mimicked some Midcentury elements but looked updated and hip to appeal to young homebuyers.
We love staging with our collection of original Midcentury pieces, but for this home, we decided to use a different approach. By keeping the design hip, it made the older home more attractive to our younger target buyers.
The home was on the smaller side and by using the right scale of furniture, we created a comfortable living room. By having a love seat and two accent chairs, we made the room look more spacious.
Designing a Hip Yet Affordable Style
As a boutique staging company, we personalize each design to fit the needs of our clients and our target buyers. For this hip Midcentury home, it was important for us to create a custom look that the future buyers could emulate once they moved in. Seattle is in the top ten most expensive cities to buy a home in the US. Therefore, we knew our young target buyers would be strapped for cash after the purchase of their new home. So we staged using affordable, yet chic furniture to make a similar style attainable for them.
To urbanize the space a bit, we opted for metal dining chairs. This kept the design interesting and appealing to hip, young buyers. We softened out the look with muted textures in the accessories and an animal hide area rug.
This bedroom was long and narrow. Because of this, we chose a smaller double bed. This made the room look larger with walking space and showed it was suitable for a couple.
On the other side of the bedroom, we created a mini office area. This showed a space where the buyers could work from home next to their beautiful garden views. It also balanced out the long and skinny bedroom and gave it another purpose to add to the future lifestyle of the buyers.
Staging this Hip Wedgwood Midcentury Home
Staging gives buyers inspiration with what to do with their future home. It allows them to envision a lifestyle they want. This Wedgwood home was compact and perfect for young couples who were likely first time home buyers. We staged it in a way that appealed to our target buyers by keeping our design both hip and affordable. Though space was tight, we gave each room function without overcramming things to fit with the desired lifestyle of our target buyers. STAGED AND SOLD IN FIRST DAY ON MARKET.
